In this class we'll explore how to mend using basic embroidery stitches. Inspired by Japanese Sashiko, we'll explore how to use the running stitch to give strength and new life to your well-worn favorite garments. Learn this technique and never give up a paired of loved jeans again!

Sorry Grandma*, but we are kicking those day-of-the-week-personified-animal tea towels to the curb and whipping up new tea towels using the Sublime Stitching patterns. Using these patterns, you could embroider an anatomically correct heart or a Sexy Librarian on to a tea towel (along with many other options)! You will learn basic (and advanced, if desired) embroidery stitches and leave with one cool towel, guaranteed to make dish washing way more fun.
*Grandmothers are welcome and encouraged to take this class ☺
Supplies needed: One sublime stitching pattern pack, embroidery floss, needles, embroidery hoop, tea towel

During the first night, students will learn all the embroidery stitches needed to complete the kit of their choice*. During the second night, we will hop onto the sewing machines to finish assembling the adorable little figures! This is the perfect class for any embroidery, from novices to experts!
 
Supplies needed: One Kiriki Press Kit, 6 inch embroidery hoop, embroidery needles
 
*Note: A majority of embroidery will need to take place outside of the class in order to finish by the second evening. The instructor can recommend different kits based on how much
outside work each student would like to have.

We have admired these amAzinG jackets that Liz has been making and could not be more excited that she agreed to teach a class. Learn how to transfer an image onto cloth and different ways to translate the image using 
embroidery, appliqué, and painting. Use your original artwork or work from your favorite existing images (no drawing skills are necessary :) ). 
 
Supplies Needed:  Jean Jacket, Embroidery floss, Needles, Embroidery hoop, embellishments as needed *basic sewing kit

Felt Terrariums

Some people may believe that there is nothing cuter than a terrarium, but they are sadly mistaken! Handmade felt terrariums are even more adorable and insanely easy to make! In this class, we will learn how to make little succulents and accessories out of felt, as well as several hand-sewing stitches. Everyone will end up with a terrarium that could rival the cutest of any living one!

English Paper Piecing

English Paper Piecing

Enjoy hand sewing? Then English paper piecing-also known as EPP-is for you. In this class you'll learn the techniques to create hexagons, then whipstitch seven finished hexies together to form a flower. EPP papers come in myriad shapes and sizes and completed shapes are great for adorning bags, aprons, and more. We'll talk about using machine and hand appliqué to do that and if time permits you can appliqué your flower to a dishtowel, as shown in the photo. (Toweling is available in at Home Ec Workshop and we recommend purchasing and pre-washing it before class.) Included in the class are 15 paper hexagons to get you started, and an appropriate needle.
 
Supplies needed: fabric scissors, pins (appliqué pins are great if you've got 'em), fabric scraps to use for your hexagons, and sewing thread that blends with your fabric.
