Baumer's multidirectional diagonal scarf is a wonder of on-the-bias
garter stitch...a beautiful design that can be knit in any weight yarn.
Even better, it's fascinating to knit!  I can almost guarantee as soon
as you finish your first scarf you'll cast on for the second.
Supplies:
200 to 300 yards of any yarn that strikes your fancy.  This pattern is a
great way to use variegated, self-striping, or gradient-dyed yarns.
You'll also need a circular needle in an appropriate size (gauge doesn't
really matter for this scarf--you can just use the needle size
suggested on the yarn band).  If you're a fan of straight needles, you
could use them instead of a circular needle.  You'll probably need
scissors and a darning needle to finish the scarf.  If you know how to
knit, and know how to or are willing to learn how to increase and
decrease, you have all of the requisite skills.  If you have an
inquiring mind, so much the better.
