Learn to sew this easy, modern quilt.  Learn the basics of quilt making including:  cutting your fabric, sewing blocks, assembling the quilt top, layering with batting and backing, plus quilting with a walking foot and adding binding.  The quilt shown is 35"x35" (instructions for making a larger quilt included)

*6 5"x42" strip of various prints and/or solids OR 6 fat    quarters of various prints and/or solids (you will have  left over fabric)

This quilt comes together quick as can be, thanks to the large scale of the patchwork and an ingenious & efficient method of making your flying geese blocks. It's simple enough for new quilters and is a great introduction to matching your points, as the large blocks are pretty forgiving.  We will be making the Large throw size 64"x64"

Supplies Needed: 
* 6 fat quarters
*  2-2/3 yards background fabric
*  4-1/4 yards backing/binding fabric (this quilt calls for a self binding--if you want a contrast binding purchase half yard of fabric. 
* Batting
* basic sewing kit

This beautiful feather quilt pattern by Anna Maria Horner is a great project for your first or your fiftieth quilt. It is a fast and fun quilt to construct from your scrap stash or a great use of your favorite colors and patterns. We will construct strip stacks to maximize fabric usage with angled quilt pieces and utilize machine quilting and binding techniques to complete this quilt. You may customize the size of your quilt, but a baby or throw size is suggested in order to complete it during the duration of the class.
 
Supplies Needed: (given for baby quilt 35" x 54"):
*variety of feather fabrics (min. ¾ yd)
(fat quarters, strips OR yardage can be used)
*2 yds. background fabric
*1/4 yd. feather stems fabric
*1/3 yd. border fabric

Adult Summer Camps

One of our most popular requests about kids camps is "Can I take this even though I am an adult?"  Well now you can! Whether you are a kid or a kid at heart, camps are fun! This year we will be offering four sessions of adult summer camp. Adults will get the full camp experience, finishing cute projects by the end of the camp.  




Adult Yarn Dyeing: The Basics

Have you longed to dye your own yarn, but are unsure how to start? This class will teach you the basics of small-batch yarn dyeing. We'll discuss and use safe techniques to create fun, colorful skeins! We'll learn how to use acid dyes to create different types of color effects(solid, semi-solid, speckled, striped, etc) so that you can create your dream skeins.

Learn how to turn nature around you into lovely, subtle dyes for fabrics and yarn. In this class we'll learn how to prepare fibers, safely process natural materials to make dyes, and use and make mordants to help bind dye to fibers and change the dye color. Great class for those who want to learn how to dye their own yarn or fabric.

In order to finish by the end of the three weeks you will have to work on your quilt between classes-it is not a problem if you do not have a machine because you can use Home Ec's workshop space free of charge between class sessions. This class is perfect for both beginners and experienced quilters. Students may also size the up the quilt easily, but need to allow extra time for completion.
