If you want to make something for a new baby, but don't have
time to stitch a quilt or knit a sweater, we've got two quick projects
that are cute AND useful. They're also a fun way to mix and match some
of the adorable new fabrics we've got at Home Ec! In this class you'll
make a baby bib and burp cloth set, using quilting cotton for the front
and flannel or some of our fantastic organic cotton fleece for an
absorbent back that's perfect for wiping messy mouths.
Skill level needed: Advanced beginners
welcome-you must know how to thread and use a sewing machine. Depending
on your experience level, you may have time during the class to stitch a
stack of burp cloths. Tied in a bow with bibs in coordinating fabrics,
these makes an adorable and much appreciated present.
Supplies needed:
For each bib
and burp cloth you need a front (quilting cotton) and back (flannel,
terry cloth, cotton chenille, etc.). Two half-yard cuts-one of quilting
cotton for the front AND one of the absorbent back fabric for the back
will make three burp cloths or four bibs or a combination of both bibs
and burp cloths. To mix and match, you will want to use a variety of
quilting cottons. Large "scraps" (minimum of 10" by 17") can be used for
the front of both bibs and burp cloths. Trims and rickrack can also be
added. The choice is yours!
Please bring a basic sewing kit and thread. Items are also available for purchase at Home Ec.
