Learn how to knit these Latvian-style mittens. The all-over
geometric pattern is easy to memorize and the picot cuff adds another
special touch. Some experience with stranded colorwork is helpful but
not necessary. Any intermediate knitter can make these mittens.
Picking out your colors might be half the fun. Go subtle by
picking 3 monochromatic colors, bolder with 2 neutrals and one color
that pops, or pick 3 contrasting colors for mittens to brighten even the
grayest winter day.
Supplies needed:
- Fingering or Sport yarn: ~180 yards in main color and contrast color 1; ~60 yards in contrast color 2 (Quince & Co Chickadee or Rauma Finullgarn would be great for these mittens)
- US 1 (2.25mm) needles or size needed get 9sts per inch in pattern, in whatever style you prefer for circular knitting (1 or 2 circular needles or dpns)
- Tapestry needle, scissors, ~12" scrap yarn (sport weight or lighter)
- Pattern provided in class
(Three session class)
