Kids Summer Camps

KIDS SUMMER CAMPS!!! June, July and August 2014 Do your children have a desire to learn how to sew, knit, quilt, weave, or any other type of craft? Do you want your children to develop these skills but do not have the time or the ability to teach them yourself? Do you want your kids to attend an insanely fun summer camp with other kids their own age? If you (or your kids) answered yes to any of these questions, then Home Ec. Summer Camps are perfect for your kid(s)! Home Ec. is offering 8 full weeks of camps for the 2014 summer schedule along with several day camp experiences! Each camp will have a specific focus, with a huge variety of camps offered. Your kid could learn anything from sewing their own clothes, to knitting monsters to weaving their own shoelaces!    Every camp will be taught by at least one of the extremely qualified instructors, who have all worked extensively teaching children crafts. Each camper will develop or hone lifelong skills through fun and interactive projects. Each camper will leave camp with their own handmade creations, along with a special surprise that will always remind them of Home Ec. summer camp! The schedule below provides information about each of the camps. The cost includes instruction, as well as all of the supplies that each camper will need for all of the crafts done during the camp. *Cancellation Policy*   We require at least two weeks notice if you are going to cancel your child's registration to one of our camps.  There will be a $50 cancellation fee taken out of your refund or store credit.  If you cancel after two weeks prior to the start of the camp, we are unable to offer a refund or store credit. We are unable to offer make up dates if your child must miss any of the days of camp.    "Sew-tastic"- BASIC SEWING CAMP Monday-Friday, June 16-20, 9 - 12 $199  (all supplies included) Ages 8 and up Have your kids ever wanted to learn how to sew? Does the idea of your child coming near your sewing machine make your heart skip a beat? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then this camp is for your kid! We will teach the basics of sewing (including hand sewing, machine sewing, reading patterns, etc.), through three projects that each camper will make: a journal cover, a totally awesome tote bag and a patchwork pillowcase. By the end of camp, your child will have developed a foundation for future sewing endeavors as well as have one-of-a-kind handmade projects. FUN WITH FIBER ARTS CAMP Monday-Friday, June 23-27, 12 - 3 $199 (all supplies included)) Ages 8 and up  It may be hot outside, but your kid can stay cool inside at Home Ec. Fiber Arts camp. We will be teaching a variety of crafts using wool fiber and yarn. Projects will include learning how to spin yarn on a C.D. spindle, several different braiding techniques, weaving on a Cricket loom, learning the basics of knitting and dyeing wool with Kool-aid! By the end of camp, your child will have increased their knowledge in the fiber arts and come home with some super cool projects!   KNITTED CREATURES CAMP Monday, June 30, 9 - 12 $40 (all supplies included) Ages 8 and up  In this one day class, each camper will learn the basic knit stitch and learn how to make a fun knitted creature. In three hours flat, your kid will be able to knit to their hearts content and stay entertained for hours! PILLOWCASE CAMP Monday, June 30, 1 - 3 $40 (all supplies included) Ages 8 and up  In this afternoon camp, every camper will make their very own pillowcase. An amazing (and surprisingly easy) pattern that shows no seams will be the project for this class, and it will be completed within the class time. Campers will be able to pick out their own fabric and learn about using sewing patterns.  FUN WITH FELT CAMP Tuesday-Thursday, July 1-3, 9 - 12  $99 (all supplies included)) Ages 8 and up     The possibilities with felt are nearly endless, but this camp will try and hit on all of the different things that felt can do! Campers will make their own felt from wool roving. Each student will also learn basic hand sewing techniques through several felt projects (amazingly cute felt birds, sewing kits, felt food, etc.) Kids will leave camp with amazing felt projects and inspiration for future felt endeavors!       Dye It, Print It, Stamp It, Embellish it CAMP Monday-Friday, July 7-11, 12 - 3 $195(supplies included with the exception of a blank t-shirt) Ages 8 and up Spend the week creating beautiful hand dyed and printed fabrics.  Students will learn various resist dyeing techniques as well as screen printing and block printing techniques.  The fabrics will then be hand embellished to create unique works of art.    FASHION CAMP  Monday-Friday, July 21-25, 9 - 12 $235 (price (all supplies included))  Ages 12 and up Do you watch shows like Project Runway and wish that you could make amazing clothes like they do? Well, it is Fashion Week at Home Ec. and this is the perfect time for young aspiring fashion designers, who have a basic knowledge of sewing, to expand the sewing skills by make three fashion forward projects: a tank top, a skirt and an Infinity scarf. Campers will leave with the skills and the drive to continue making their own wardrobe!  BASIC FASHION CAMP  Monday-Friday, July 28-August 1, 12 - 3 $225 (price (all supplies included)) Ages 8 and up If you have hopes of becoming a fashion designer, or just interested in making your own clothes that look amazing, then this is the camp for you! We will teach the basics of sewing throughout the week through different projects, such as Shorts, Vests, Embellished Tees, Headbands and more! Campers will leave with their very own hand-made clothes and the skills to continue sewing and adding to their own wardrobe. QUILTING CAMP Monday-Friday, August 4-8, 9 - 12 $225 (all supplies included for a finished 50"x 60" quilt) Ages 8 and up Learn a cool way to make half square triangle quilt blocks and arrange them in a zig-zag pattern or any way you design. We will cut, sew, machine quilt and attach a separate binding. This is a fun quilt from start to finish. By the end of the week, each camper will have a quilt that they sewed themselves and the skill set to continue on without fear into more quilting adventures!       UP-CYCLED CRAFTS CAMP Monday-Friday, August 11-15, 12 - 3 $185 (all supplies included) Ages 8 and up Go Green at Home Ec's Upcycled Craft Week. All week long, campers will learn about different ways of repurposing old objects, as well as using materials that are usually seen as scraps into amazing projects. Campers will be able to make rugs out of fabric scraps, weave baskets out of paper sacks, and make mittens and hedgehogs from sweaters. This is the perfect opportunity for kids to learn about all of the different ways that crafting can be environmentally friendly and fun!
